WHO publishes yellow fever tally of 67 cases and 18 deaths in nine countries
The World Health Organization published a bulletin on 6 November 2026 reporting 67 confirmed yellow fever cases, including 18 deaths, in nine African countries. The tally covers 1 January to 12 October 2026, with different country reporting cut-offs.
The countries are Burkina Faso, Cameroon, the Central African Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana, Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Togo. WHO describes the most recent outbreak activity as concentrated in Burkina Faso, Côte d’Ivoire, Ghana and Liberia, including border areas.
The agency highlights risks from cross-border movement, uneven vaccination coverage and work in forested or mining areas. It says countries are strengthening surveillance, investigations, laboratory testing and vaccination in affected areas.
The 27 October assessment put regional risk at moderate and global risk at low. Publication of the bulletin is the day’s development; its figures should not be interpreted as new cases occurring on 6 November.
