Activists occupy Amsterdam construction site of centre intended for Microsoft

Geef Tegengas activists occupied a data centre construction site intended for Microsoft in Amsterdam on 6 November 2026. Dutch ANP reporting describes protesters crossing fences and climbing a crane.

The action targets the expansion of digital infrastructure and its AI uses. ANP’s account, published by Metro, says no construction work was taking place during the occupation.

Microsoft says it respects peaceful protest but considers entry to an active construction site unlawful and dangerous and asks the occupants to leave. The consulted sources establish neither cancellation nor a lasting construction halt; consumption estimates advanced by activists are not presented here as verified measurements.
