European stocks rise as the CAC 40 moves back above 8,000

European equities mostly closed higher on 2 November 2026. In Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.98% to finish at 8,047.69, while Madrid and Milan advanced 1.63% and 0.90% respectively.

The Paris gain amounts to 78.27 points from the previous close. Euronext data and market reports agree that the index returned above 8,000.

The session unfolded alongside falling oil prices and hopes for diplomacy over Iran. Market commentary linked cheaper oil to support for energy-cost-sensitive shares and pressure on oil companies. This is an interpretation of the session, separate from the measured index changes.
