Schaeffler plans 3,460 job cuts and five site closures in Europe

Schaeffler announced on 3 November 2026 a plan to cut a net 3,460 jobs in Europe, including about 2,660 in Germany. Five sites are set to close, four in Germany and one in Belgium.

The measures affect 16 locations and are intended to be implemented mainly in 2027 and 2028. They also include capacity adjustments in France and Slovakia, according to the group.

The supplier cites a difficult automotive market and slower-than-expected growth in electric mobility. It targets about €300 million in annual earnings improvements from 2030, with €480 million in one-off costs. These savings are a target; the group plans consultations with employee representatives.
