Benguerir: Kayouh presents a train factory project with Hyundai Rotem

Abdessamad Kayouh presented a train manufacturing project in Benguerir on 3 November 2026 during scrutiny of his ministry’s 2027 budget. La Relève and Mowatine report a 35% local integration target under the Hyundai Rotem agreement.

The project would include a maintenance joint venture and forms part of the programme to acquire 168 trains. The minister presents local manufacturing as a step serving the domestic market, with export prospects.

These announcements do not establish that the factory has been built or that trains are already being produced there. The accounts reviewed provide no verifiable production start date. They place the project within network development and rolling stock renewal, with deliveries to be phased.
