Google announces $17 billion for its first Wyoming data center

Published

Google announced a long-term $17 billion investment on 5 November 2026 in its first Wyoming data center, in Laramie County. The project is part of its digital and AI infrastructure expansion.

Announced partners are Tallgrass Energy, Black Hills Energy, American Electric Power and Related Digital. Power supply includes a planned 702-megawatt Bloom Energy fuel-cell development using natural gas and paired with carbon capture and storage.

This is an announced investment; the sources reviewed do not establish that the site is operational. Planned electricity capacity does not measure emissions actually avoided: capture performance remains to be demonstrated in operation.
