Egypt: Nessim-1X estimated to hold about 200 billion cubic feet of gas

Published

Egypt’s petroleum ministry announced positive results at the Mediterranean Nessim-1X well on 6 November 2026. Its preliminary estimate puts gas in place at 200 billion cubic feet, without establishing recoverable reserves.

According to the ministry, initial appraisal identifies about 15 metres of net gas-bearing thickness. Technical studies still need to determine production potential.

A roughly 22-kilometre pipeline connection to existing facilities is being considered. This is a development proposal: the available information does not establish that production has begun.
