Kenya: twenty Ebola contacts leave quarantine

Kenya announced on 26 October 2026 that twenty people monitored after exposure to Ebola had left quarantine. They completed 21 days of monitoring without symptoms, according to health director-general Patrick Amoth.

Another 98 contacts remain in quarantine. Their release is due to begin in phases on 3 November, depending on individual assessments, the health ministry says.

The reported total remains nine confirmed cases, including two deaths; the seven surviving patients are described as stable. This first release does not mark the end of the outbreak: health surveillance continues, and officials urge communities to welcome those returning without stigma.
