India–US trade talks are being fine-tuned, Piyush Goyal says

Indian Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal said on 26 October 2026 that most discussions on a trade agreement with the United States had concluded and negotiators were fine-tuning the details.

He was speaking at an India–Netherlands business forum during an official visit to the Netherlands. His remarks describe the talks from India’s perspective; they announce neither a signature nor entry into force.

The countries presented a framework for a first phase in February and continued negotiations following changes in US tariffs, according to PTI. Final provisions and their implementation timetable are not established by the statements reviewed.
