Shell nearly doubles adjusted earnings and launches $5 billion buyback

Shell reported third-quarter adjusted earnings of $10.8 billion on 29 October 2026, compared with $5.43 billion a year earlier. It also launched a $5 billion share buyback programme.

The programme is intended to run for approximately three months. Shell says repurchased shares will be cancelled; completion remains subject to market conditions. The announced amount therefore does not represent purchases already fully carried out.

Adjusted earnings remove certain items and should not be confused with accounting income attributable to shareholders. The quarter benefited in particular from high refining margins, according to financial reporting published today. These results alone do not measure the prices paid by consumers.
