Ukraine adopts thirty days of martial law in ten regions

On 26 November 2018, Ukraine’s parliament approves thirty days of martial law in ten regions after Russia’s seizure of Ukrainian ships near the Kerch Strait the previous day.

The measure covers border and coastal areas considered exposed. The final arrangement is limited in duration and territory, following political debate over a broader initial proposal.

This domestic decision is a consequence of the maritime incident already covered in the dossier; it is distinct from the seizure itself.
