Burkina Faso announces applications for education data challenge
Applications for the Data Challenge Burkina, Education 2026 edition, are announced as open from 6 to 10 November, according to a Cluster Digital Africa communication published on 6 November 2026. The initiative involves the Digital Transition Ministry and Africa Data Entry.
Teams must choose one of three problems: anticipating school dropout, analysing inequalities in education access, or improving the allocation of school infrastructure and teachers. The call envisages anonymised public data and permits artificial intelligence.
Teams are asked to combine data engineering, architecture, analysis and data science skills. Proposals may include dashboards, maps or predictive models; five teams are expected to reach the final.
The announced timetable places challenge work on 10–17 November and Digital Week in Ouagadougou on 24–27 November. The tools remain to be designed: their effectiveness and any deployment in schools have not been demonstrated.
