Medical coverage: Lekjaa puts those without effective access at 8.2 million

Addressing the finance committee on 30 October 2026, Fouzi Lekjaa estimated that 8.2 million people lacked effective medical coverage in Morocco, according to Hespress, SNRTnews and Aabbir.

The minister distinguishes 4.1 million registered people whose entitlements are suspended for unpaid contributions from another 4.1 million who are not registered. Of 32.7 million registered people, 28.6 million reportedly have active entitlements.

He calls for distinguishing households able to contribute from those unable to afford it. These are figures presented to Parliament; they do not describe a new administrative exclusion ordered that day.
