Lekjaa announces phased electronic-payment programme for retailers

During the debate on the 2027 finance bill on 30 October 2026, Fouzi Lekjaa announced preparations for a gradual expansion of electronic payments among retailers, according to SNRTnews and Hespress.

The minister says the programme draws on a vision developed by Bank Al-Maghrib and aims to remove commissions on these transactions. Reports describe an initial phase before next January followed by a gradual expansion.

This is a government announcement. The sources examined do not establish which retailers will be covered, funding arrangements or the detailed operational timetable; they do not document a general removal of commissions already in force.
